Military budget kind to Alaska

    Washington, DC (KINY) The US Senate Appropriations committee approved the fiscal year 2019 military budget that includes several projects for Alaska.

    The list of projects include facilities to accommodate two F-35 interceptor squadrons in 2019-2020 at Eielson Air force base, new missile interceptor installations at Fort Greely, and continued expansion of long range missile tracking radar at Clear Air force station near Fairbanks.

    The budget funds $63.8 million for Eielson Air force Base, $174 million for the long range discrimination radar at Clear, and $41 million for Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson that includes a new fuel facility and a new property and fiscal office building for the Alaska National Guard.
