New plan okayed for Prudhoe Bay

The State Division of Oil and Gas approved a new operational plan for Prudhoe Bay after waiting for BP to add information about natural gas marketing.

The Alaska Dispatch reports that the Walker Administration's demand for gas marketing information  went unfulfilled, but Natural Resources Commissioner Andy Mack will let the new development plan take effect.

The administration had extended last year's plan until November, while waiting for more specific marketing data.

BP had submitted a plan in late march with a brief description of its natural gas interests, but the governor demanded more detail.

BP, which operates the state's largest oil field for itself, Conocophillips, and Exxon-Mobil, said such information had never been required in almost 40 years of operational plans.
