New Play at Perseverance Theatre Starts in Late October

    Juneau, AK (KINY) - Perseverance Theatre is welcoming guests to their latest production, Dreaming Glacier Bay by Joel Bennett, which starts in late October.

    The play is inspired by the true events of a 1920's movie star's journeys into Glacier Bay.

    Staring October 24th, guests will be able to see Dreaming Glacier Bay, written by Joel Bennett, which tells the story of John Barrymore, who sails his ship into Glacier Bay to visit a couple and how their lives are intertwined.

    Bennett is a Juneau-based photographer and filmmaker, who was deemed the Alaska filmmaker of the year in 2001. Michael Evan Haney will be directing the play, while Peter DeLaurier will be playing the lead role of John Barrymore.  

    The cast also features Alaskan actors Shelley Virginia and Mike Peterson as Muz and Joe Ibach, and Cate Ross as Dolores Barrymore.

    Dreaming Glacier Bay features scenic design by Dana Moran Williams, Lighting design by Art Rotch, and costuming by Juneau designer Shelly Wright. Lucy Peckham is creating the sound design.
