Next phase of downtown streets project to be unveiled in public meeting

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A public meeting is planned Monday evening to outline the next phase of the City and Borough of Juneau's Downtown Street Improvement Project.

    A press release from City Hall says the project team will review the project's history, design elements and contraction plans for the second phase.  The next phase will  encompass all of Front Street, North Franklin Street from  the Front Street Intersection up to Second Street, and a portion of First Street.  

    The work will include the installation of new roadway, sidewalks and lighting and drainage improvements through out the project area.

    The work is a continuation of Phase One which wrapped up in May and included improvements on South Franklin Street from Manila Square to Front Street.

    Phase Two construction is scheduled to take place during the spring and fall of 2018.

    The public meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Treadwell Ballroom of the Baranof Hotel.
