On JPD's official Facebook page, a post just before 5:00 p.m. Monday read "Egan Drive blocked by about 10,000 pounds of Chum Salmon. The cleanup effort is still underway. The scene smells a bit fishy."
Speaking with News of the North at approximately 5:40 p.m., JPD Public Information Officer Erran Kalwara stated that the driver of the truck was transported by ambulance to Bartlett Regional Hospital.
She added that most of the fish had been cleaned up at that time, but the State Department of Transportation was on its way to help clean up remaining oil and residue.
