Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Large crowds lined the streets for a near two hour parade that included over 130 entries this year.
The Award for the best commercial float went to Juneau Pediatric Dentistry. The Float voted Most Alaskan was Alaska Electric Light and Power. The Most Patriotic float was Polaris House. The best theme float was Glacier Valley Rotary.
In the vehicle category, the tricked out award went to Affordable Auto, the best decorated went to the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, the best historical went to Pioneers of Alaska and the best watercraft award was won by Willies Marine.
The big rig award went to GCI. The Juneau Pipe Band won the musical group. Ati-Atihan won for the best marching unit. The Juneau Dance Theatre won the youth award.
The animals award went to Yankee Doodles. The most humorous award went to Juneau Urgent and Family Care. The most spirited was own by the Juneau-Douglas Shrine Club. The best of parade award went to the Filipino Community.
The Juneau Parade Grand Marshals were Cathy Munoz and Ron Flint. The US Coast Guard Color Guard, the Canadian Mounted Police Honor Guard and the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Honor Guard handled the color and honor guards. VIPS for the parade included Juneau Police Chief Ed Mercer, Alaska State Troopers, and area-wide Fire Departments.
Mick and Nick Beasly were the Douglas Parade Grand Marshals. Mayor Dan Curtis of Whitehorse and the Whitehorse Sister City Marchers were VIPS at the Douglas Parade.
