Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The State Marijuana Control Board mapped out a strategy for dealing with the proposal to allow for the consumption of the product in the location of the sale during its meeting earlier this month in Juneau.
Loren Jones of Juneau serves on the panel. He said on Action Line that the panel had been debating the onsite consumption issue for a couple of years now.
He worked on a subcommittee with another member to look at the regulations they had built and tried to rework those to make it enforceable, easier to understand, and provide what ever opportunity it could.
With the recent passage of the statewide smoking ban, Jones said they had to make a couple of changes.
The board voted to put the matter out to public comment. Public comment is due in writing to the board office by November 1. In addition, there will be an oral public hearing on December 19 if people want to comment in person.
