Press allowed to cover Track Palin case

Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) Judge David Wallace ruled a ban on the media and public to view the case in Veteran's court would have violated long standing precedent and constitutional rights.

There will be no cameras allowed in the courtroom however.  Veterans court is difference from regular criminal court as those that enroll can receive mental health treatment programs rather than jail time and other punishments.

The judge ruled cameras would violate the privacy rights of other defendants in the Veterans court.

Palin is facing assault charges for allegedly injuring his father last December at the family home in Wasilla.  Other charges include burglary and criminal mischief.  The father, Todd, was not seriously injured.
