Voter information for Primary Election Tuesday

There are two ballot options: Candidates from the Alaska Democratic Party, the Alaska Libertarian Party, or the Alaskan Independence Party, and candidates from the Alaska Republican Party.

The State Division of Elections would like to remind voters that the Primary Election is August 16th. Polls are open 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. The election will offer voters the chance to select senators and representatives at both the state and national level.

The only contested State House race in Juneau this year will come in the Mendenhall Valley District 34 contest. Republican Incumbent Cathy Munoz will face off against Democrat Justin Parish in November's General Election. They are unopposed in Tuesday's Primary Election for their party's nomination.

There are two ballot options: Candidates from the Alaska Democratic Party, the Alaska Libertarian Party, or the Alaskan Independence Party, and candidates from the Alaska Republican Party.

Make sure to bring identification when going to vote. If your name is not on the list or you don’t have ID, you may vote a questioned ballot. The questioned ballot updates your voter registration. If you need language or other assistance while voting, ask the election board or bring somebody to assist you. Bilingual outreach workers and poll workers will be in the polling place to assist voters on Election Day.
