Recovery House topic of Action Line discussion

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Gastineau Human Services' Recovery House has been in operation since January.

    Director of Clinical Services Michele Federico was among the guests on Action Line Monday.  She said it came about in response to the opioid crisis that the community of Juneau has been experiencing over the last number of years.  Federico describes the problem in Juneau as "substantial."

    Funding for the program comes from the Juneau Hope Endowment Fund and city and borough social services funds which are managed by the Juneau Community Foundation.  The foundation's executive director Amy Skilbred was also on the program.  She says the foundation has provided funding  Gastineau's residential and intensive outpatient programs in 2016.
