Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Southeast Alaska Conservation Council is disappointed over the inclusion of funding for the Juneau Access Project in the Capital Budget by the Finance Committee in the State Senate.
Staff Scientist Guy Archibald said on Action Line that they would really like to see that money allocated to benefit the people of Juneau and Southeast through ferry service and related infrastructure. "Something else besides a road that will only benefit a gold mine." Archibald's comment is a reference to the Kensington Gold Mine. He refers to is as the Kensington Access Road.
SEACC has consistently opposed a road option over the years in favor of enhanced ferry service.
