Copper Center, Alaska (KINY) The trooper who shot to death Christopher Hash, 38, said the victim approached him and his vehicle with a can of flammable liquid.
Alaska State Troopers identified the shooter as Kamau Leigh, of the Glenallen Patrol. He is a six year veteran. They went on to report that Leigh arrived on the scene at 3:15 am and Hash was found in possession of a container of incapacitating, flammable liquid. The dispatch reported Hash advanced toward the trooper close to his vehicle and the trooper discharged his weapon killing him.
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is now in charge of the case. The Office of Special Prosecutions will review the incident and make a determination as to the justification of the discharging of the service weapon.
The original report said Hash, had assaulted a 72 year old family member, placed other family members in fear, and caused them to barricade themselves in the home. The report went on to state that Hash was destroying property.
