Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - School Board member Jeff Short talked about the challenge of carving the budget by three million dollars while a guest on Action Line today (Monday).
"I know we're going to approach the deficit by seeking all the input we can get from the community about three things: What to preserve at all costs. What we really need to invest in despite having a big short fall and what can we get away with cutting if things have to go."
The school board gets its first look at a preliminary budget during a work session Tuesday evening. The panel conducts a joint meeting with the Assembly Wednesday evening to discuss district matters including the budget deficit.
Public forums are scheduled Tuesday, February 6 and Wednesday, February 7 to collect ideas on how to deal with the budget.
