Stabbing downtown leaves man hospitalized

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Police are piecing together a reported fight downtown that led to a stabbing.

A release from Juneau Police said they responded to a 911 call for a disturbance in the area of Marine Way and Ferry Way at 5:30 pm Sunday.  A 41 year old said the victim approached him, challenged him to a fight, and then punched him on the side of the head.  He said he pulled out his pocket knife and stabbed the man once in the abdomen.

The injured man walked away and was located in the 200 block of S. Franklin Street.  He was transported by Capital City Fire Rescue to Bartlett Regional Hospital for medical treatment.  He suffered serious injury but was listed in stable condition.
