Mayor Ken Koelsch proclaimed Saturday as Stamp Out Hunger Day and it was a huge success, as United Way Southeast joined forces with the US Postal Service to help in collecting food for Helping Hands and the Southeast Alaska Food Bank.

"We collected almost 4,000 pounds in one day with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Driver! That's amazing! Thanks to the community of Juneau and Douglas for all their support and donations.", said Mark Piatrovski with Stamp Out Hunger.

Donations were made by leaving items at mailboxes or by leaving donations in drop boxes at the post office and local grocery stores.
