Standard & Poor's removes Alaska from watch list

Standard & Poor's is holding its credit rating for Alaska at AA+ with a negative outlook, but the agency is taking the state off its special watch list.

The Alaska Dispatch reports that S&P said Monday the removal from "credit watch" is a response to Governor Walker's budget vetoes, which the agency says put the state on track to fiscal stability.

However, S&P says the negative outlook remains, until the legislature enacts permanent reforms.

S&P downgraded Alaska's top AAA rating for general obligation bonds in January, ahead of the legislative session.
