Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) An audit found the Alaska Mental Health Trust violated several laws.
Alaska Public Media reported that the Alaska Division of Legislative Audit said the Trust Authority violated the law by investing $44.4 million in commercial real estate. It also reported the trust board violated the Open Meetings Act and the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act by attempting to keep some board issues out of the public eye.
The Authority was established to help people with mental illness, traumatic brain injury, brain injuries, memory loss and other problems.
The Trust Authority denied all the allegations in a written statement.
