State of Alaska considering legal action against producers of opioids

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The opioid epidemic is blamed for the rising crime rate across the country.

The State of Washington and the City of Seattle have filed separate lawsuits against  pharmaceutical companies, including OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma, accusing them of fueling the state’s ongoing opioid epidemic.

State of Alaska Deputy Attorney General Rob Henderson was asked on Action Line Tuesday if the state is considering joining those lawsuits or pursuing separate legal action.  "What I would tell you is that we're very aware of what Washington did and its something that we're actively looking into about whether that would be appropriate."
