A weather system is expected to develop over the Northern Pacific and then move into the Gulf of Alaska. Strong gusty winds along the Panhandle and the outer coastal waters are expected Thursday night into Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rains of 2 to 4 inches are also possible as the front moves through Southeast Alaska. River and stream levels are low to normal, although rapid rises are likely.

The situation will continue to be monitored as the time to the event shortens.
