Sculpture of whale to be unveiled to public Saturday

JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau's new whale will be unveiled Saturday morning at 10:00, as the Whale Project Committee invites the public to see the life-size sculpture in its permanent residence, the park next to the Juneau-Douglas Bridge.

Access to the site is from West 8th Street, by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game building. The site is currently under construction and the gates will be temporarily opened for the ceremony.

The site will be open from 10-11 a.m., but is otherwise closed to the public until such time as construction activities allow.

Project completion is scheduled for fall 2017.
