Teen shot while stealing vehicle

North Pole (Alaska) Alaska State Troopers said a homeowner saw two teens trying to steal his vehicle and opened fire, striking one of the alleged bandits in the leg.

Troopers said the incident occurred off Faultline Avenue in the early morning hours of October 7.  The one suspect was shot in the leg but managed to run away from the scene.  Conner O'Neill, 18, of Fairbanks, was arrested nearby when he tried to get inside an apartment nearby.  Authorities said he was listed as a fugitive from justice in Texas.  The homeowner held the second suspect at the scene at gunpoint until authorities could arrive.  Troopers said Mr. O'Neill received proper medical attention.
