Turns barred at times at Hospital Intersection on Egan Drive

Egan Drive construction now bars inbound traffic from making left hand turns to go to the hospital.

Egan Drive construction now bars inbound traffic from making left hand turns to go to the hospital.

We asked Capital City Fire Rescue Chief Rich Etheridge about what that means for his ambulances.

He says they evaluated the intersection and determined as of Friday that they can currently get emergency vehicles through the intersection if they need to of there's an emergency.

He added though that at some point it will become impassable and they won't be able to make the turn coming from the Valley.

The chief says they have  alternate plans that call for continuing past the intersection and turning around at the end of the retaining wall or taking Glacier Highway.

As of Monday morning, turning left from Egan outbound or turning right from Egan inbound on to Channel Drive are barred.
