Two dead in Seward Highway crash

Hope Junction, Alaska (KINY) Icy road conditions contributed to a head on crash Saturday that claimed the lives of two Alaska residents, Alaska State Troopers reported.

The crash occurred near milepost 53.8 on the Seward Highway and took the life of Presence Bissonette, 37, of Seward and Kaying Lee, 42, of Anchorage.

The Trooper Dispatch stated that Neng Thao, 47, of Anchorage, was south bound in a 1990 Toyota SUV when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and struck Bissonette head on.  She was driving a  2010 Toyota SUV.  Troopers went on to say that Mr. Thao, and two passengers in his vehicle, were transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage by Life Med Helicopter and ambulances for treatment of non-life threatening injury.  The road was shut down for several hours and the investigation is ongoing.
