August 1st is the deadline for applications for those who are interested in a degree program.
An important date is coming up for the fall semester at the University of Alaska Southeast.
Chancellor Rick Caulfield talked about that while a guest on Action Line Wednesday:
"We're encouraging people to apply now for our fall semester and August 1st is the deadline for applications for those who are interested in a degree program. They can give us a call 796-6000 in Juneau or go to our website and sign up for a degree program or if they're interested in simply taking a class or two they can register right up until the beginning of classes at the end of August."
The August 1st deadline is a hard deadline and the chancellor explains why:
"We want students to talk to an advisor. We want them to talk to financial aid. Fundamentally, we want them to be successful and we've found that the students who apply early are the ones who are going to be prepared to be successful. Again, they can still apply for a class, if it's diesel technology, sociology or biology, they can do that right up to the beginning of the semester, but we want degree seeking students to be successful and applying by the deadline of August 1st is what works best."
