UPDATE: Juneau pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle on Willoughby Avenue

    Juneau Police say the 77 year old man that was hit by a vehicle in downtown Juneau on Friday has died.

    UPDATE:

    Juneau Police say the 77 year old man that was hit by a vehicle in downtown Juneau on Friday has died.   He is identified as Joseph Patrick Rafferty of Juneau. A press release states he died Friday. Next of kin have been notified. The investigation continues.

    ORIGINAL STORY:

    A pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle downtown.

    According to JPD Public Information Officer Eran Kalwara, the Juneau Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls at about 1:07 p.m. reporting a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle on Willoughby Avenue. A bystander reported that a physician was on scene and performing CPR on the pedestrian.

    JPD officers and Capital City Fire/Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Officers found that a 1991 Gray Ford Explorer operated by a 20-year-old female struck a 77-year-old Juneau man. The male sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to BRH by ambulance.

    A citation has not been issued and the investigation is continuing.
