Video footage helps JPD nab burglary suspect

    Police responded to the Merchant’s Wharf building downtown Saturday morning and found a window had been broken.

    Video footage helped Juneau Police nab a suspect in an office burglary.

    Police responded to the Merchant’s Wharf building downtown Saturday morning and found a window had been broken. They say it was reported around $600 in property was taken.

    Video footage of the break-in was recovered and a suspect was developed. Officers found 30 year-old Matthew G. Ritchey in the downtown area. He was arrested and taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on one count of Burglary in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, and Theft in the Third Degree. Ritchey was held without bail pending his arraignment.
