Former Apache Alaska general manager John Hendrix was selected by Walker to be his chief oil and gas adviser on Monday.
Walker announced the appointment of former Apache Alaska general manager John Hendrix as his chief oil and gas adviser Monday. Walker's office says Hendrix has an extensive oil and gas background.
In a release, Walker said having Hendrix join the administration will help steer the conversation between the state and industry so the relationship is "mutually beneficial."
In February, Walker said the state and its gas line partners would look at different options for moving forward amid low oil prices.
An approach recently floated by the president of the state-sanctioned Alaska Gasline Development Corp. would have the state taking a leadership role in the project, also being pursued by BP, ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp.
