Whale sculpture surfaces in Juneau, city manager explains cost

    JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY) - There she goes! Juneau's new whale sculpture was going up on Sunday. City Manager Rorie Watt says the whale will be the life-sized focal point of Bridge Park.

    He explained the city had finished the first phase of the earthworks, which is the island, the fill, and the foundation for the whale sculpture, last month.

    Watt discussed the three phases with Pete Carran on Action Line Friday:

    Plus there's been confusion over what portion of the cost the city is paying and what portion the Whale Project has contributed.

    Watt explained the Whale Project has paid for the sculpture, while the city provided land and other expenses:
