Whitehorse flights begin Friday

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Alaska Seaplanes will start the new route from Juneau to Whitehorse with fares starting at $249.

It will be the first scheduled flights between the two cities in nearly 10 years. The Pilatus PC-12 will make the run in about 50 minutes as it travels at close to 300 miles per hour. The Pilatus is the newest addition to the Alaska Seaplanes fleet.

"It's so fast, you actually get back to Juneau before you left Whitehorse," General Manager Carl Ramseth said.  "We're very grateful for the partnership that's developed between Alaska Seaplanes and Air North, offering American travelers access to the interior on Air North's flights fanning out across Canada."

Destinations include Dawson City.  The flights also allow Canadians to easily access the Alaska Capital City and other southeast Alaska sites.

There will be round trip flights three days per week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.  The service will operate during the summer tourism season.

Flights can be booked online at www.flyalaskaseaplanes.com or by calling (907) 789-3331.
