President Biden Visiting Southeast Alaska Isn't Enough

Should our President visit Juneau to see the negative impact the lack of tourism has had on Juneau isn’t enough; outlying towns that have not just big gift shops and excursions, but include the owners of the Mom & Pop gift shops and a few of their employees. Going on two canceled tour seasons Hoonah has been hit by Icy Strait Point and local shops not being able to employ members of the community, nearly 140 positions each season. The local shops hire on average four local employees. The impact is felt on the off season as well, Unemployment Benefits were depleted and locals were dependent upon it to help offset their loss of income. Added to the distress mess, loss of ferry service, this year it won’t be as long as before, hopefully, but it’s concerning the citizens of Hoonah, will Dunleavy cut it more and delay the restart? Will the stores have enough stock, AND will they even make money? I really hope that President Biden comes to Alaska, I was born and raised here, and like ALL Alaskans I love sharing my experiences with our Guests. Thank you very much for letting me write this.

    Respectfully,

    George
