CDC approves booster shots for Johnson & Johnson and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - According to a recent release from the City and Borough of Juneau, The CDC has officially endorsed booster shots of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines for certain populations.

    Those eligible for Moderna boosters are, anyone 65 years and older, or adults who work in high-risk settings, long-term care facilities, or have underlying medical conditions.
    For folks who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, booster shots are recommended for anyone 18 and up who has been vaccinated two or more months ago. There are no other eligibility requirements.
    Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose.

    Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type they originally received while others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.
