KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) — Danielle Wakefield of Anchorage, Alaska, thought she had lost the diamond setting from her ring, the only thing she had from her late father.
The youth softball coach flew to Ketchikan in southeast Alaska and then boarded a ferry for a tournament last week. At her mother's urging, she posted about the missing diamond on Facebook, and it was widely shared in Ketchikan. Destiny played a role in Wakefield getting the ring back. Make that Destiny Madewell, a security worker at the Ketchikan airport, who found the diamond in the baggage claim area and made arrangements to get it back to Wakefield before her flight back to Anchorage.
