Grummett Wetlands on Douglas set aside as conservation area

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Southeast Alaska Land Trust announces that more than thirteen acres in Juneau have been set aside for conservation.

It's the Grummett Wetlands located on Douglas Island.

In a release, the land trust explains that the coastal property sits between a 108 acre City and Borough of Juneau Conservation Area and the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge.

The organization says the wetlands provide a rare and important crossing for resident wildlife (such as deer and bear) to access the tidal wetlands in the Refuge.
