Ketchikan adds another 4 COVID-19 cases

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - There are four new cases of COVID-19 to report in Ketchikan today.

    One of the cases was reported on the evening of Nov. 30 by a health care provider. This person sought testing due to symptoms of COVID-19, was notified of the positive result, and was instructed to isolate.

    The source of this case was determined to be community spread. The contact investigation for this case is complete and the close contacts have been notified.

    Three of the cases were reported today by a health care provider. All three of these individuals sought testing based on symptoms of COVID-19, and are members of the same household. They have been notified of the positive results and have been instructed to isolate. The source for these three cases is under investigation.

    Public Health has begun the contact investigations and will coordinate to notify anyone identified as close contacts and advise those close contacts to quarantine for 14 days.

    The source of the case pending investigation from Nov. 30 was determined to be by community spread.

    There are no individuals hospitalized today in the PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center COVID-19 unit.

    This case brings the total cumulative COVID-19 case count, including travelers, to 208. The number of positive cases of individuals residing or staying in Ketchikan is 195. 

    Of the 195 cases, 12 are still active, and 183 have recovered.
