Ketchikan adds COVID-19 case

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - The Ketchikan Emergency Operations Center confirmed one new resident case on Monday, the first in over a week.

    Positive test rates remain low at 0.15 percent.  Nearly 17,000 tests have been administered in the community.

    The new case was a resident who traveled back to Ketchikan on September 25.  They tested positive at a traveler testing site upon their return.

    The person was asymptomatic, was directed to isolate, and is now being monitored by health care professionals.

    A contact tracing investigation is also underway.

    The total case count in Ketchikan is now 69.  This includes 57 residents.  56 cases have recovered.

    The community risk level remains low.
