Wrangell, Alaska (KINY) - Visitors will soon be able to submit requests for the last four daily permits to Anan Wildlife Observatory, which are meant to accommodate last-minute planning and need to be requested in person at the Wrangell Ranger District, up to one week in advance.
These permits are for people arriving with their own means of transportation and visiting without any hired guide service. Requests must be made by filling out a form at the front desk, and individuals listed on the form must be physically present at the time of request (except for family members).
Weekly requests will be collected by Mondays at 4:30 p.m. and awarded on Tuesdays by noon. If several requests are for the same day, a lottery for awarding reservation space will be held on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. If there is any space left, requests will be accommodated on a first come/first serve basis through the front desk, during regular business hours (Mon-Fri; 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.).
Permits are required to visit Anan Wildlife Observatory from July 5th – August 25th.
