Sitka sexual assault cases end in guilty pleas

Sitka, Alaska (KINY) - Two defendants charged with sexual assault recently entered guilty pleas in Sitka Superior Court.

Assistant District Attorney Bailey Woolfstead said Francis Morse, 53, entered a guilty plea to attempted sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree on September 16.

He was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Jude Pate to one year in jail.  He will also be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.

Morse was indicted on a charge of sexual assault in the third degree in May 2019.

Noel See, 50, entered a guilty plea to harassment in the first degree and was sentenced to one year in jail.

He had been charged with sexual assault in the second degree in May for the alleged improper touching of a female in downtown Sitka.

Prosecutors said See will serve one year and six months in jail as he was on probation at the time for a charge of assault in the fourth degree.
